Synopsis

On Christmas night, the household eagerly awaits their family dinner. All except
the quiet Alex, who is in the midst of a relentless eating disorder. Alex does all she can
to prepare herself for a Christmas not only without her father but under the watchful eye of an unrelenting monster, Ana.

Alex navigates the awkward encounters of her family, who continuously dance around the subject of her disorder as well as her fractured relationship with her mother, Natalie.
The night takes a turn when her father is accidentally mentioned at the dinner table.
Fed up with the elephant in the room, Alex calls out her family’s avoidance of the subject leading to a misguided comment centred around her weight. Alex is soon berated, degraded and manipulated by the monster, forcing her to purge the very little food she had at dinner.

After her mother discovers the vomit bag, Natalie and Alex come to blows, finally revealing their true feelings towards each other for the first time. Coming to a mutual understanding, Alex comes to accept her struggles, admitting that she doesn’t know how to stop herself from spiralling since her father left. Mother and daughter embrace, letting their emotions wash over them as the monster looms over Alex.
