Matt Williams has been pursuing film production since high school and has since discovered a fondness for horror stories. Starting off as just an animator and visual effects hobbyist, his skillset has grown from editing to writing and directing. He has also tried his hand at documentary sound design, composing and, in the case of“Ana”, co-producing. Matt has collaborated with Vanessa previously on a horror short called “Darker”, which he wrote and directed and she produced. He is also directing the upcoming comedy film “Wanda and Sully”, written by Scott Day andJoshua Merchant. Matt’s fondness for horror stories stems from their ability to not only thrill an audience but to act as a metaphor for invisible things in the world, like trauma, addiction and, in the case of “Ana”, anorexia.

James is in his fourth year of a Bachelor of Film andTelevision at Swinburne and enjoys all aspects of filmmaking. From the conceptualisation of an idea right through to the final touches on a finished film. For his final project, James is filling the role of sound designer on two short films: Ana and Sunlight. These projects have been challenging as Sound design is something James had a passion for but rarely was able to focus in depth on it. Throughout the production process over the past two years, James has learned a great deal not just about sound design but filmmaking in general and hopes to really create a great sound scape for these films. In the future,James hopes to become a writer/director, using his experience as a sound designer and in other departments throughout his university tenure to help better understand every aspect of filmmaking and use it to his advantage in creating his own projects.
